Mr. Fahner is responsible for the company’s fiber broadband market expansion strategy. In this role, Mr. Fahner balances the analysis of potential new markets, emerging industry trends, and the company’s strategic growth objectives to develop investment theses for organic investment, merger or acquisition, or partnerships that may include grant funding, joint ventures, or some combination of those approaches. Under his leadership, the company has signed deals to expand its fiber broadband footprint to an additional 175,000 addresses, including establishing an anchor partnership in the Greater Columbus market with the City of Dublin. In addition, the company has announced plans to expand to an additional 100,000 addresses in other Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana markets, collectively representing a 30% increase in the company’s footprint.
Prior to this role, Mr. Fahner was the VP Corporate Development responsible for M&A activities across the altafiber family of companies including Hawaiian Telcom and CBTS. In that capacity, Mr. Fahner led the acquisition of three companies in 2017-18 with transaction sizes ranging from $10M to $650M to expand both the fiber broadband and IT services business, and also acquired fiber infrastructure assets out of bankruptcy in 2021.
Over the course of his 25-year career with the company, Mark has held a variety of senior leadership roles, including VP of Consumer & SMB Product Operations, VP Network Planning & Engineering, General Manager of Business & Wholesale Product Management, Sales VP Enterprise Accounts at both Cincinnati Bell and CBTS, and other sales leadership roles.
