With a Bachelor of Economics from San Jose State University, Ken has had roles in manufacturing, engineering, field support, product management, and sales for telecommunications equipment and content distribution companies. Hewas involved in installations of some of the first fiber networks for video distribution in the 1980s. In the 1990s, was involved with the nascent broadband and video on demand efforts.
In 2001, he cofounded Viodi, which, through its newsletter and associated video channel, provides insight into technology, particularly as it relates to rural broadband and the associated ecosystem. In 2014, the scope of the Viodi View expanded to include advanced mobility and its impact on the built environment. He has produced hundreds of videos for Viodi, trade associations, and corporations on topics which include autonomous vehicles, consumer electronics, the Internet of Things, and Software-Defined Networking.
In late 2023, he joined the Broadband Forum as Director of Marketing. The mission of this 25+-year-old non-profit “is to unlock the potential for new markets and profitable revenue growth by leveraging new technologies and standards in the home, intelligent small business, and multi-user infrastructure of the broadband network.” His new role at the BBF could be considered an extension of Viodi’s efforts to help connect various ideas and people associated with broadband and its larger ecosystem.
