Rhonda Johnson, AT&T’s Executive Vice President for Federal Regulatory Relations, is responsible for managing AT&T’s engagement on regulatory matters in Washington, D.C. In this role, Rhonda leads the team representing the company before all federal departments and agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and Department of Commerce.
Prior to this role, Rhonda served as President of AT&T California, overseeing the company’s state and local government affairs and social engagement initiatives in California. She directed AT&T’s state workforce, including more than 33,000 employees and nearly 50,000 retirees.
Rhonda has been with AT&T and its predecessor companies for more than three decades. She started her career in 1984 with AT&T in Chicago, Illinois. She became Vice President of Regulatory for SBC Illinois before joining SBC California in November 2004.
Throughout her time with the company, Rhonda has held various management positions in finance, regulatory and policy. While in Illinois and California, she built strategic relationships with key stakeholders to advance public policy in support of AT&T’s business priorities. Rhonda has also played major roles on issues related to the Telecommunications Act and state regulations for wholesale and retail policy. In alignment with the AT&T Foundation, she also developed a corporate giving strategy to promote the company’s philanthropic initiatives, boosting its brand and reputation.
Rhonda holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois. She and her husband enjoy tennis and hiking in their free time.
